Hey there! My name is Nichole Gaertner, and as you can see, I spend a great part of my life chasing the impossible dream of capturing my “unicorn.” That all elusive photograph that you can only capture once in a lifetime! I’m adventurous and daring and love to explore. Sometimes my explorations leave me a little worse for wear- but never without a great story to share afterward! I love to hike, mountain bike and rollerblade. On a rainy day you can catch me curled up either in my bed or on the couch with not just one good book- but the entire series. I’ve been married for over 17 years to the sweetest and most supportive husband, Joshua and together we have four wild and wacky kiddo’s that keep us hopping! I have lived in the Sky Valley for over 11 years and freelance with several different city entities. Photography has blessed me in so many ways, but most importantly it has opened my eyes to how beautiful our Sky Valley truly is, even when it HAS rained for six months straight!
Seven years ago was the turning point for my photography and personal life. I was involved in an accident that nearly took my life. Fighting with my mental health the years following taught me a lot about who I am and the work I want to share with the world. PTSD- post traumatic stress disorder, was something that ruled my mind and almost ended my life. Getting outside, hiking with my camera in hand... saved that life, again. When you look at my work, I hope you feel the love I have for the outdoors and the love I have felt from my Heavenly Father and the healing it brought me. When your mind is plagued with dark and intrusive thoughts, look towards the light. The light, no matter how small, will ALWAYS be there to help guide your way back up to the surface.
